A higher Domain Rating, measured every month.

Domain Rating is the score that shows how much the internet trusts your site. We raise it to 50, 60 or 70+, so Google, partners and customers see an established business, and we measure it every month.

  2. We raise itHigh-rated sites link to yours every month, and the score climbs to the target you choose.

What is Domain Rating, and who looks at it?

Domain Rating (DR) is a score from 0 to 100 that Ahrefs, the most used SEO tool, gives every website for the strength of the links pointing to it. Moz has a similar score called Domain Authority.

Google does not use the score itself, but it measures the same thing: how many trusted sites point to yours. A higher rating usually means pages that rank more easily.

People look at it too. Agencies, marketplaces, publishers and buyers check a site's rating before they partner, list or link. A site at DR 5 looks new, whatever its age. More in plain words: domain authority.

  • A number you can check Open Ahrefs any month; the report shows every reading.
  • The whole site lifted The rating belongs to the domain, so every page benefits.

Does your site need a higher Domain Rating?

The moments owners ask us about it most often.

  • A partner asked for your DR

Marketplaces, publishers and agencies set a minimum before they work with you.

  • Competitors rated three times higher

Their pages rank more easily, even when yours are better.

  • A new domain that looks new

DR 0 to 10 reads as untested, to people and to tools.

  • Guest posts refused

Sites that accept articles often check the author's site first.

  • A site you plan to sell

Buyers price a site partly by its rating and its links.

  • Links that never moved the score

Cheap links bought before, with the rating still where it was.

Send us your site. We tell you its rating today.

And, for free, which target is realistic and how long it would take.

The score partners, marketplaces and buyers check before they trust a site.

What raises a Domain Rating?

Three things move the score. Only one of them is the number of links.

  1. How strong the linking sites are

A link from a DR 80 site moves the score far more than a hundred from DR 5 sites.

Links from high-rated sites, chosen for the target of your package.

  2. How many different sites link

Ten links from one site count roughly as one. The rating counts sites, not links.

Links spread across many different sites, never repeated on one.

  3. Whether the links are real

Links from sites Google ignores or penalises can be dropped by Ahrefs too, and the score falls back.

Indexed sites only, checked before we publish, so the rating holds.

What is in a Domain Rating reading?

Every report has the same parts. Each numbered part is something you can check yourself in Ahrefs.

  1. The ratingThe score from 0 to 100, read every month.
  2. The first readingThe score before we started, for comparison.
  3. The linking sitesHow many different sites point to yours.
  4. Their strengthWhy the score moved.
  5. The proofThe address of each link, so you can open it.

What does a Domain Rating package include?

Domain Rating, backlinks or full SEO: which do you need?

How do you raise a rating that stays up?

Five rules we follow on every package. Check any DR offer against them, ours included. Two terms worth knowing: backlink and domain authority.

  1. 1
Count sites, not linksThe rating rises with the number of different strong sites, not the total links.
  2. 2
Only sites Google indexesLinks from ignored sites get dropped, and the score falls back weeks later.
  3. 3
Measure before you pay for moreA reading on day one is the only way to know what the work changed.
  4. 4
Keep the listEvery link written down, so the profile can be checked and cleaned.
  5. 5
Pages still matterA high rating lifts good pages; it cannot make a thin page rank.

Questions about Domain Rating (DR) Increase

Not answered here? A person who does this work replies to every question.

How much does it cost to increase Domain Rating?

The packages above are monthly, by target: DR 50+, 60+ or 70+. The readings, the links and the monthly report are included, with no minimum term.

What is a good Domain Rating?

It depends on your market. For a local business, 30 to 40 is already above most competitors; for a national brand or an online store, 50 to 70 is what the leaders usually have.

What if the target is not reached?

If the rating is below the target by the date in your package, the next month is at no extra cost.

Does Google use Domain Rating?

Not the number itself. Google measures the same thing its own way, the links pointing to your site, so a higher rating usually goes with pages that rank more easily.

Will the rating stay up?

Links from indexed, real sites stay counted. Ratings fall when the links come from sites Ahrefs later ignores, which is why we never use them.

Is it safe for my site?

Yes. We use high-rated sites Google indexes, never spam comments, hacked sites or link farms, and we list every link.

Is Domain Rating the same as Domain Authority?

They measure the same idea with different tools: Domain Rating is Ahrefs' score, Domain Authority is Moz's. A package that raises one usually raises the other.

How long does it take?

30 days for DR 50+ and 60+, 45 days for DR 70+. Ahrefs updates the score as it finds the new links, so it rises over those weeks.
