About this service
Drupal is chosen for sites with complex content, many editors and strict permissions: universities, public bodies, large organisations. We build on current Drupal, model content types properly, and handle the migration many organisations still need from end-of-life Drupal 7, with content, users and URLs carried across.
Drupal 7 after end of life
Many organisations still run Drupal 7 because the site works and moving is a big job. Since community support ended in January 2025, security fixes no longer arrive as a matter of course, and every month on it increases the risk. Hosting providers are also dropping support for the old PHP versions it depends on.
Moving from Drupal 7 to current Drupal is not an upgrade but a rebuild with a data migration. The underlying architecture changed. We write migration scripts that can be run repeatedly, so content can be moved, checked, corrected and moved again until it is right, while editors continue working on the old site.
A content model that matches your editors
Drupal's strength is structured content: events, people, publications and locations each with their own fields and relationships. Badly modelled, it becomes a set of generic pages where editors paste everything into one body field, and the site loses the ability to filter, reuse or present content consistently.
We map your content before building. That means talking to the people who publish, looking at how content is reused across the site and identifying what needs approval before going live. Roles and workflows then match reality: a faculty editor can update their department, a reviewer approves, and nobody can accidentally publish to the homepage.
Migration is also a chance to stop carrying dead weight. We audit the old content with you, and pages that have not been viewed in years can be archived rather than moved.
- Content types and fields based on how content is used
- Taxonomies that power filters and related content
- Editorial roles with approval workflows
- Scripted migrations that can be rerun until correct

Questions
Is Drupal 7 still safe to run?
Official community support for Drupal 7 ended in January 2025, so it no longer receives regular security releases. Running it is a growing risk, and migration should be planned now.
Can you migrate us to WordPress instead?
Yes, if your content and permissions are simple enough. For complex sites with many editors, staying on Drupal is usually less work and keeps features you rely on.
Do you work with headless Drupal?
Yes. Drupal can serve content through its APIs to a separate front end, which we scope as a custom project.
