About this service

Accessibility is a legal requirement in most of the markets we work in and a usability improvement in all of them. We audit against WCAG 2.2 AA with real assistive technology, fix what is found, and document the result so you have something to show if you are ever asked.

A legal requirement and a usability one

In most of the markets we work in, accessibility is now a requirement rather than a courtesy, and enforcement has moved from theory to letters. That is the reason most clients start. The reason they continue is that the fixes help everybody: clearer focus states, better contrast, forms whose errors say what is wrong.

Automated tools find roughly a third of what matters. The rest needs somebody driving the site by keyboard and listening to it through a screen reader, which is what the manual pass is.

  • Audited against WCAG 2.2 level AA, which is what the legislation points at
  • Automated and manual results reported separately, never merged into one score
  • Keyboard and screen reader journeys tested end to end, not element by element
  • Fixes implemented and retested as they land
  • A statement you can publish, backed by a test you can point to

Overlay widgets

The one-line script that promises compliance does not fix the underlying markup, and in several markets those products have been the subject of the complaints rather than the defence against them. We will not install one.

Most of the work is invisible to a sighted visitor. Contrast and focus states change visibly; the rest is markup that only assistive technology reads.

What you get

Everything below is in the price. Nothing here is an upgrade.

  • WCAG 2.2 AA audit across templates and key journeys
  • Automated and manual test results, separated
  • Implementation of the agreed fixes
  • Retest report and an accessibility statement

What changes

  • Every barrier found, with the guideline it breaches and the fix
  • Keyboard and screen reader navigation that actually works end to end
  • Contrast, focus and form errors corrected across templates
  • A statement you can publish, backed by a test you can point to

How it runs

  1. Test

Automated tools first for coverage, then keyboard and screen reader by hand for truth.

  2. Report

Each barrier with its guideline, its severity and its fix.

  3. Fix

The agreed items, on staging, retested as they land.

  4. Document

A retest report and a statement you can publish honestly.

Questions

Is an overlay widget not easier?

Easier and not effective. Overlays do not fix the underlying markup, and in several markets they have been the subject of the complaints rather than the defence against them.

Which standard do you test against?

WCAG 2.2 level AA, which is what European accessibility legislation points at.

Will it change how the site looks?

Rarely much. Contrast and focus states change visibly; most of the rest is markup a sighted visitor never sees.

Get it scoped

The work is not the same size twice, so it is scoped before it is priced. The scoping call costs nothing.
