About this service

Training videos often fail because they are long recordings of someone talking through slides. We start from what the learner must be able to do after the lesson, cut the content to that, and produce short videos combining presenter footage, screen recording or animation. Files are delivered ready for your LMS or course platform.

Start from what the learner must do

Training videos usually start from the material: a slide deck, a manual or a subject expert's knowledge. The video then covers the material, all of it, and runs to forty minutes. Learners skip ahead, retain little and cannot do anything new at the end.

We start from the other end. What should the learner be able to do after this lesson that they could not do before? That becomes the objective, and every part of the lesson either helps achieve it or is cut. The rest of the material may still matter, but it belongs in a reference document, not in the video.

Short lessons and real demonstrations

Engagement drops sharply in longer instructional videos. Lessons of a few minutes, each covering one objective, are easier to watch, easier to find again later and easier to update when something changes. A course of ten six-minute lessons is more useful than two thirty-minute ones covering the same ground.

Within each lesson, we show rather than tell. If the skill is using software, the viewer sees the software. If it is a physical task, they see it done, close up. If it is a concept, animation makes it concrete. Slides read aloud by a narrator are the format learners like least, and we avoid it wherever the content allows.

Questions

Do you write the course content?

We structure and script it from your material and subject experts. We do not supply subject expertise in regulated fields such as health and safety or finance; that stays with you.

How long should each video be?

Short. Most learners drop off after about six minutes. A long topic works better as several focused videos.

Will it work in our LMS?

We export MP4 files for any platform and can package lessons as SCORM for most learning management systems.
