About this service
Packaging has to sell from the shelf or the thumbnail, protect the product, carry mandatory information and survive a printer's process. We design on the exact dieline from your packaging supplier, check the design as a 3D mockup and at thumbnail size, and prepare print files with every technical detail in place.
The pack is judged in three seconds, twice
In a shop, a shopper scans a shelf and decides in a few seconds which products to pick up. Online, the same decision happens on a thumbnail about the size of a postage stamp. A pack that relies on fine detail, subtle colour or long text disappears in both places.
We test every concept in both situations: as a 3D mockup on a shelf beside real competitors, and as a small image in a shop grid. The questions are simple. Can you tell what it is? Can you tell whose it is? Does it look different from its neighbours? Detail matters too, but it is the reward for picking the pack up, not the reason.
Dielines, finishes and the cost of a reprint
Packaging artwork is built on a dieline: the flat template showing where the box is cut, folded and glued. Every supplier's dieline is slightly different. Artwork built on a generic template can end up with text running over a fold or a logo split across a glue flap, and a print run of thousands is wasted.
We design on your supplier's actual dieline and keep critical content away from folds and edges. Special finishes such as foil, embossing or spot varnish each need their own separate layer in the file and add cost per unit, so we specify them deliberately and note the impact. Before files go to print, we check colour setup, bleed and line weights against the printer's requirements.

Questions
Do you produce the packaging?
No. We design and prepare files for your packaging supplier, and can liaise with them on dielines and proofs.
We do not have a dieline yet. Can you start?
We can start concepts on a standard format, but final artwork must be built on the supplier's actual dieline, since small differences in dimensions break the design.
Can you make our packaging more sustainable?
We can design for less ink, mono-material formats and recyclable finishes, and avoid laminates where possible. Material choices are confirmed with your supplier.
