About this service
Most social video is watched without sound, and subtitles are required for accessibility in many contexts. We produce subtitles checked word by word against the audio, broken into lines that are comfortable to read and timed to speech. Choose sidecar files for YouTube and web players, or styled captions burned into the video for social.
Accuracy is about names and terms
Automatic captions have improved a great deal and handle everyday speech reasonably well. They struggle with exactly the words that matter most in business video: your company name, product names, people's names, technical terms and acronyms. A caption that spells your brand wrong in the first ten seconds undermines the whole video.
We build a term list from you before starting and check every line against the audio. Speaker changes are marked where it helps, and on-screen text that would clash with captions is noted. The result reads as if a careful person typed it, because one did.
Line breaks and timing make captions readable
A caption can be word-perfect and still hard to read. Lines that run too long force the eye across the screen. Breaks in the middle of a phrase, such as between "the" and its noun, make the reader stumble. Captions that appear late or linger after the speaker has moved on confuse anyone following both.
We keep lines to a comfortable length, break at natural phrase boundaries and time each caption to appear with speech and leave cleanly. For social, burned-in captions are placed away from where each platform puts its buttons and text, so nothing is covered.
- Around 42 characters per line or fewer, two lines at most
- Breaks at natural pauses, never splitting a name or a phrase
- Reading speed checked so no caption flashes past
- Placement adjusted per platform for burned-in captions

Questions
Burned-in captions or subtitle files?
Files for YouTube, websites and course platforms, where viewers can turn them on and search engines can read them. Burned-in for social platforms, where styled captions in the video perform better.
Are auto-captions not good enough?
They are a useful start and often get names, brands and technical terms wrong, with no line breaking. For anything published under your name, a checked version is worth it.
Do you meet accessibility standards?
We follow common guidelines for line length, reading speed and timing, and can include sound descriptions for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers on request.
