About this service

Footage from different cameras, times of day and locations rarely matches. We correct exposure, white balance and skin tones, match shots to each other, then apply a grade that gives the film a deliberate look. Delivered in DaVinci Resolve, with versions for web, broadcast or cinema.

Correction first, then the look

Grading starts with correction: fixing exposure, white balance and skin tones so each shot looks right on its own. Only then is a creative look applied. Skipping correction and applying a stylised look straight away makes problems worse, because the look exaggerates every inconsistency underneath.

Shot matching is the part most viewers never notice, which is the point. When two cameras film the same scene, or a scene spans a few hours of changing daylight, cuts can jump in colour. Careful matching makes the edit feel continuous.

Why original files matter

Grading works on the information in the footage. Original camera files, especially log or raw formats, hold far more colour and brightness detail than a compressed export. Push a compressed file too far and it breaks into banding and noise.

That is why we ask for a locked edit plus the original media, and conform the edit to those files before grading. If only compressed exports exist, we grade within their limits and tell you honestly what is achievable.

Delivery specifications vary widely. Web platforms, broadcasters and cinemas have different requirements for colour space, brightness and file formats. We export to the specification you provide, and check the result on calibrated monitors.

Questions

Do you need the original camera files?

For the best result, yes. Grading compressed exports limits how far colours can be pushed before they break up.

Can you fix badly exposed footage?

Within limits. Log and raw footage recover a lot; compressed phone footage less so. We will test a few shots first.

Which software do you use?

DaVinci Resolve. We accept edits from Premiere Pro, Final Cut and Avid.
