About this service
Before spending on engineering or tooling, an idea needs to be defined. We work through who the product is for, what problem it solves, what already exists, what it should do and how it might look. The result is a concept pack with sketches, a 3D visual and a rough cost picture, so you can decide whether to proceed and what to ask for next.
Define before you design
Many physical product projects go wrong long before the first prototype. The founder has a clear picture of the product and a vague picture of the buyer. Features accumulate because each one seems useful. Nobody checks what already exists until a competitor turns up in a search after tooling is ordered.
We start by writing down who the product is for, what problem it solves for them, what it must do and, just as important, what it will not do. Then we look at what is already on the market, at what price and with what complaints in its reviews. That short document saves more money than any later stage, because it stops the wrong product being developed well.
A rough cost early beats a precise cost late
Product ideas often die at the first factory quote, when the founder discovers that the unit cost makes the target price impossible. By then, months and thousands of euros have gone into design and engineering.
We put a rough bill of materials and a cost range against the concept early. It is not precise, since precise costs need a final design and real quotes, but it is usually enough to see whether the idea can work at the price you have in mind. If it cannot, we say so and look at what would need to change: materials, features, volume or price.
What you get
Everything below is in the price. Nothing here is an upgrade.
- Product definition document
- Market scan of existing products
- Concept sketches
- 3D concept visual
- Rough cost estimate and next-step plan
What changes
- A written product definition: user, problem, key features and limits
- Existing products on the market reviewed, with your concept's difference stated
- Concept directions sketched, and one developed into a 3D visual
- A rough bill of materials and cost range to test whether the idea works commercially

Questions
Will you tell us if the idea is not viable?
Yes. A clear no at this stage is worth far more than a polished concept for a product that cannot make money.
Is our idea kept confidential?
Yes. We sign your non-disclosure agreement before you share details.
Do you help with patents or funding?
No. We refer patent and funding questions to qualified advisers. The concept pack is often what they ask to see.
