About this service

A storyboard turns a script into pictures: what is in each shot, where the camera is, what moves and what text appears. It lets you, your team and the production crew agree on the video before anyone films or animates, when changes cost an eraser rather than a reshoot. We draw at the level of finish your project needs.

Cheap changes on paper, expensive ones on set

Every change to a video gets more expensive the later it happens. On a script, it costs a few minutes. On a storyboard, an hour of drawing. On a shoot day, it costs the crew's time and possibly a second day. In animation, it can mean redoing weeks of work.

A storyboard is where most of those changes should happen. When everyone sees the frames, problems surface quickly: a scene that needs a location you cannot afford, a transition that does not make sense, a product shot that is missing, a section that runs far longer than the script suggested. Fixing them on paper is the cheapest moment you will get.

How finished should a storyboard be

Not every project needs polished frames. For an internal team agreeing on the flow of a short video, rough thumbnails with clear notes do the job. For pitching an idea to a client or stakeholder who is not used to reading storyboards, cleaner greyscale frames make the idea easier to grasp. For animation, colour frames and an animatic lock the look and timing before production.

We match the level of finish to what the board needs to do, and that is reflected in the three packages. Whatever the finish, every frame carries camera framing, action, dialogue or voice-over and timing, so the director or animator can work from it without another briefing.

Questions

Do we need a storyboard for a short video?

For a talking-head clip, rarely. For anything with several scenes, locations or animation, a board saves more than it costs.

What is an animatic?

The storyboard frames timed to a temporary voice-over and music. It shows whether the pacing works before animation or filming begins.

Can you write the script too?

Yes, through the video script writing offer. The two work best together.
