About this service
We build native Android apps in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, the approach Google recommends for new apps. Native development suits apps that use device hardware closely, need the best performance or must work across Android's wide range of devices. We handle the build, testing across screen sizes, and the Google Play submission.
Android means many devices, not one
An iPhone app runs on a small range of Apple devices. An Android app runs on thousands of models from dozens of manufacturers, with different screen sizes, aspect ratios, chips, memory and Android versions. Some manufacturers also change how Android handles background tasks and battery saving. An app tested on one flagship phone can behave badly on a budget device that many of your users actually own.
We agree a minimum Android version based on your audience, then test across a spread of devices and screen sizes, including lower-end models. Background tasks, notifications and battery behaviour get particular attention, because they are where manufacturer differences cause the most problems.
When native Android is worth it
Native Android development in Kotlin makes the most sense in three situations. The product is Android-only, for example a tool for field staff on company-issued Android devices. The app relies heavily on hardware, such as Bluetooth devices, NFC, the camera or background location. Or performance matters enough that every frame counts.
Outside those cases, a cross-platform app covering both iOS and Android from one codebase often gives better value. We will tell you which applies. If you choose native, we build with Jetpack Compose and the current architecture Google recommends, which keeps the app maintainable as Android evolves.

Questions
Native Android or cross-platform?
If you need iOS too and the app is mainly screens and data, cross-platform usually costs less. Native makes sense for Android-only products, heavy hardware use or the best possible performance.
Which Android versions will it support?
We agree a minimum version based on your audience. Supporting very old versions adds testing time for a small share of users.
Can you take over an existing Android app?
Yes. We review the code first and tell you whether it is worth continuing or better rebuilt.
