About this service
We write the queries that get the answers you need out of your database: reports, exports, data checks and views for dashboards. We also fix queries that return wrong numbers or take minutes to run. Each query comes with a plain explanation of what it does, so you can trust and reuse it.
Wrong numbers usually come from definitions
When two reports disagree, people assume one query has a bug. Often both queries are correct; they just answer slightly different questions. One counts orders by the date placed, the other by the date paid. One includes cancelled orders, the other does not. One counts a customer who bought twice as two customers. Each choice is reasonable, and together they produce numbers that do not match.
So before writing a query, we turn the business question into a precise definition and write it down. What counts as a sale, a customer, an active user, a month? Then we write the query, run it, and reconcile the result against a total you already trust, such as the figure in your accounting system. Differences are explained, not hidden.
Fast queries, readable queries
A slow query is usually doing more work than it needs to: scanning a whole table where an index would find the rows directly, joining before filtering, or calculating the same thing repeatedly. Rewriting it, sometimes with an index or a materialised view, can turn minutes into milliseconds. We show the timings before and after.
Speed is only half of it. A query nobody can read becomes a query nobody dares change. We write SQL with clear names, comments on the business logic and consistent formatting, and save frequently used queries as views so dashboards and reports can share one definition rather than each having its own copy.

Questions
Which databases do you query?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite, BigQuery and Snowflake for SQL, and MongoDB, Firestore and DynamoDB for NoSQL.
Will you change our data?
Not without permission. Most work is read-only. Any change, such as an index or a view, is agreed with you first.
Why do two reports show different totals?
Usually because they define something differently: what counts as a customer, a sale or a month. We find the difference and write it down.
