A GRADAX alternative to Wix

Outgrowing Wix? GRADAX offers custom web design with faster performance, full SEO control, and code ownership. See why businesses switch from Wix.

Wix is one of the most popular website builders in the world, known for its intuitive drag-and-drop editor and free plan. It is a fantastic starting point for individuals and very small businesses who need a web presence quickly. However, Wix has well-documented performance issues and significant limitations that become apparent as your business grows.

These are the most common reasons businesses look for Wix alternatives. GRADAX provides custom-built websites that solve every limitation that makes Wix frustrating for growing businesses.

Where Wix runs out

Notoriously slow page performance with Lighthouse scores typically in the 50-75 range due to heavy JavaScript runtime
Wix branding displayed on free and lower-tier plans, undermining professional appearance
Separate mobile editor creates inconsistencies between desktop and mobile versions of your site
No ability to export or move your website if you decide to leave the platform
Heavy client-side JavaScript negatively impacts SEO and Core Web Vitals scores
Free plan limitations and frequent upselling push users toward more expensive tiers

What we do differently

Dramatically Faster PerformanceGRADAX sites score 95+ on Lighthouse compared to Wix's typical 50-75. This is not a minor improvement.
Responsive by DesignUnlike Wix's separate mobile editor that creates inconsistencies, GRADAX sites are built responsive-first.
No Platform Lock-inOwn your code, own your content, host anywhere. Unlike Wix where your site cannot be exported, a GRADAX website is a portable asset you control completely.
Professional Brand ImageNo Wix branding, no template-sharing with millions of other sites. A custom design that reflects your brand identity exactly as intended.

Questions we get asked

Why is Wix so slow compared to custom websites?

Wix loads a heavy JavaScript runtime on every page that handles drag-and-drop rendering, animations, and platform features. This runtime can exceed 1MB of JavaScript before any page content loads. Custom-built sites only include the code they actually need, resulting in dramatically faster load times.

I have a free Wix site. Is it worth upgrading to GRADAX?

If your website is for a hobby or personal project, Wix's free plan may be fine. If your website represents a business or generates revenue, the performance and professionalism of a custom GRADAX build will likely provide a positive return on investment.

Can GRADAX match Wix's ease of content editing?

Yes. We integrate user-friendly content management systems that let you edit text, images, and blog content without code. The editing experience is different from Wix's drag-and-drop, but equally accessible for content updates.

How does the cost compare over 3 years?

Wix Premium plans cost $204-$780 per year. Over 3 years, that is $612-$2,340 plus any premium apps. A GRADAX website starts at $2,500 with managed hosting included, making the 3-year cost comparable while delivering significantly better performance and flexibility.
