The Announcement
We are thrilled to announce that GRADAX has raised 4.2 million euros in Series A funding led by Seedcamp, with participation from Credo Ventures and Early Game Ventures. This investment marks a pivotal moment in our journey as a digital agency and validates the vision we have been building toward since day one: making world-class web design, hosting, SEO, and digital marketing accessible to businesses across Europe, not just those in Western tech hubs.
This round closes at a time when the European digital services market is experiencing unprecedented growth. Businesses of every size are investing in their online presence, and the demand for agencies that can deliver design, development, and growth under one roof has never been higher. With Seedcamp's backing and their network of over 500 portfolio companies, we are positioned to meet that demand at scale.
We want to be transparent with our community about what this funding means and does not mean. It means we are growing, hiring, and expanding into new markets. It does not mean we are changing who we are. GRADAX was built on the principle that every business deserves a digital partner that treats their project like their own. That principle is not negotiable, no matter how much capital sits in the bank.
Our Journey So Far
GRADAX started in 2021 as a two-person operation in Bucharest. Our founding team built their first website for a local restaurant, charging 800 euros for a project they poured two weeks into. That project led to a referral, which led to another, and within a year we had a waitlist of clients and a growing reputation for delivering design quality that punched well above the price point.
By the end of 2023, we had grown to a team of 12, launched our managed hosting platform, and built over 2,000 websites for businesses across Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria. We bootstrapped the entire way, reinvesting every euro of profit into hiring, infrastructure, and product development. Our revenue grew 340 percent year over year in 2024, and we hit profitability in Q3 of the same year without raising a single euro of external capital.
The decision to raise a Series A was not born out of necessity. We were profitable and growing. But we recognized that the opportunity in front of us, expanding across Europe with a full-service digital agency model built on modern technology, required the kind of acceleration that organic growth alone could not deliver. Seedcamp understood that vision immediately, and the partnership felt right from our very first conversation.
Why Now
The timing of this raise is deliberate. The European small and mid-market business sector is undergoing a digital transformation that has been accelerating since the pandemic. According to Eurostat, over 77 percent of EU businesses now consider their website their most important customer acquisition channel, up from 52 percent in 2020. Yet most of these businesses are still working with outdated websites, fragmented tooling, and agencies that disappear after launch.
We see an enormous gap in the market for a modern, technology-driven agency that combines design excellence with ongoing growth services. Most traditional agencies build a website and move on. Most marketing agencies run campaigns without understanding the technical foundation. GRADAX does both, and we do it with a product-minded approach that treats every client relationship as a long-term partnership rather than a one-off project.
The competitive landscape is also shifting in our favor. Legacy agencies built on WordPress page builders and manual SEO audits are struggling to keep up with the pace of change in web technology. Our stack, built on Next.js, modern hosting infrastructure, and AI-assisted workflows, gives us a structural advantage in both delivery speed and output quality. This funding lets us press that advantage across multiple European markets simultaneously.
Where the Funding Goes
We are allocating the capital across three strategic pillars. The first and largest allocation, roughly 45 percent, goes to team expansion. We plan to grow from our current team of 28 to over 60 by the end of 2026, with key hires in engineering, design, SEO, and client success. We are opening a second office in Berlin and establishing remote hubs in London and Amsterdam to serve clients in those markets with local expertise and timezone alignment.
The second pillar, approximately 30 percent of the funding, is dedicated to product and infrastructure. We are investing heavily in our managed hosting platform, expanding our data center presence from three countries to six, and building proprietary tools for automated SEO monitoring, performance optimization, and client reporting. These tools will allow us to serve more clients at a higher quality bar without proportionally scaling headcount.
The remaining 25 percent funds our go-to-market expansion into the UK, DACH region, and Nordic markets. This includes localized sales and marketing efforts, partnership development with regional technology providers, and a content strategy designed to establish GRADAX as a thought leader in the European digital agency space. We expect these new markets to contribute 40 percent of revenue by Q4 2027.
Expanding Across Europe
Our European expansion strategy is built on a hub-and-spoke model that preserves the quality and personal attention that our clients love while enabling us to operate across borders. Each regional hub will have a dedicated team of designers, developers, and growth specialists who understand the local market, speak the language, and can meet clients face to face when needed. Central functions like infrastructure, tooling, and quality assurance remain in Bucharest, where our deep engineering talent pool gives us a cost and quality advantage.
We are starting with Germany and the UK because these are the two largest digital services markets in Europe, with a combined addressable market of over 18 billion euros annually for web design, development, and digital marketing services. Our competitive positioning in these markets is compelling: we offer the design quality and technical sophistication of a premium Western European agency at a price point that is 30 to 50 percent lower, thanks to our efficient operating model and Bucharest-based engineering center.
The Nordic expansion, planned for early 2027, will focus on Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, markets where businesses have high digital maturity and are willing to pay premium prices for quality work. We are already in conversations with potential local partners in Copenhagen and Stockholm, and we expect to announce those partnerships in the coming months.
What This Means for Our Clients
For our existing clients, this funding translates directly into a better experience. We are investing in faster hosting infrastructure, more responsive client support with dedicated account managers for every project, and expanded service offerings including video production, conversion rate optimization, and paid media management. Clients who have been asking us to handle more of their digital presence will now get that option without needing to coordinate with multiple vendors.
We are also launching a client portal later this year that will give every GRADAX client real-time visibility into their project status, website performance metrics, SEO rankings, and hosting health. This portal is being built on the same technology stack we use for client projects, and it reflects our belief that transparency and communication are just as important as the work itself. No more wondering what your agency is doing with your budget.
For new clients considering GRADAX, the funding means we can take on more projects without sacrificing quality. Our expanded team and improved tooling allow us to reduce average project timelines by 25 percent while maintaining the meticulous attention to detail that defines our work. Whether you are a startup launching your first website or an established brand looking for a digital growth partner, we now have the capacity and expertise to serve you well. Reach out to discuss your project and see how GRADAX can help.
Thank You
This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of the GRADAX journey. To our clients, who trusted a small Romanian agency with their most important digital asset: thank you. Your referrals, your feedback, and your willingness to bet on us when we were still proving ourselves made this growth possible. Every website we have built, every SEO campaign we have run, every hosting issue we have resolved at 2 AM has been driven by our commitment to you.
To our team of 28 incredible people in Bucharest: you are the reason investors wanted in. Your talent, your work ethic, and your genuine care for the quality of what we ship is what makes GRADAX special. This funding is not about replacing what you do with capital; it is about giving you more resources, more teammates, and more opportunities to do the work you love at an even higher level.
And to Seedcamp, Credo Ventures, and Early Game Ventures: thank you for seeing what we see. The opportunity to build a world-class digital agency from Eastern Europe, one that competes on quality and innovation rather than just cost, is real and enormous. We are honored to have you as partners on this next chapter, and we are determined to make this the best investment in your portfolio. The best is ahead.
