A Number That Tells a Story
This month, GRADAX officially built and launched its 10,000th website. It is a number we never set out to chase. There was no countdown clock on the wall, no campaign to rush toward a round figure. We simply kept building, one project at a time, for businesses that trusted us to get it right. When the counter tipped over, the feeling in the office was less celebration and more quiet satisfaction that ten thousand different businesses decided we were the team for the job.
The first website we built was a five-page portfolio site for a photographer in Cluj-Napoca. It took three weeks. The most recent was a multi-language e-commerce platform for a retail brand operating across four European countries. It took six weeks. Between those two projects lie thousands of small businesses, growing startups, established enterprises, and everything in between. Each one had a different problem to solve, a different audience to reach, and a different definition of success.
What has not changed is the approach. We listen first. We build with intention. We do not ship until it works. That philosophy has carried us from project one to project ten thousand, and it will carry us through the next ten thousand.
By the Numbers
Ten thousand websites span twelve countries, forty-seven industries, and every business size from solo freelancers to companies with five hundred employees. The breakdown reflects the diversity of the businesses we serve: 62% are small businesses with fewer than twenty employees, 24% are mid-market companies with twenty to two hundred employees, and 14% are enterprise or institutional clients. The most common industries are professional services, healthcare, retail, and construction, but we have built sites for marine biologists, vintage car dealers, and at least one alpaca farm.
The geographic spread has expanded steadily. Our first hundred projects were concentrated in Romania and neighboring European countries. By project one thousand, we were serving clients across the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands. By project five thousand, the United States had become our largest market. Today, the majority of our active projects serve businesses in Florida, Texas, California, and New York, though we continue to build for clients across Europe and beyond.
Technology has evolved dramatically over the course of these ten thousand projects. Our early work relied heavily on WordPress, which still powers a meaningful share of the web. Over the past three years, we have shifted increasingly toward custom-built solutions using modern frameworks that deliver better performance, stronger security, and more flexibility. The tools change. The standards do not.
What We Have Learned
Ten thousand projects teach you things that no textbook or conference talk ever will. The most important lesson is that the best websites are built by people who understand the business, not just the technology. A technically perfect website that misunderstands the customer journey will underperform a simpler site that gets the messaging right. We learned this early and it shaped how we staff projects: every engagement begins with a strategy conversation, not a design mockup.
We have also learned that speed matters more than most agencies admit. Not page-load speed, though that matters too, but project speed. A business that needs a website to support a product launch, a seasonal campaign, or a new location cannot wait twelve weeks for a design committee to finalize the shade of blue. Our website design process is built for velocity without sacrificing quality. Most projects ship within two to six weeks, and rush timelines are available when the situation demands it.
The third lesson is about relationships. Our longest-running client relationship is now in its seventh year. They started with a single website and have since added an e-commerce store, a customer portal, ongoing SEO management, and a hosting plan. They did not sign a seven-year contract. They stayed because every project delivered what we promised. Retention is not a strategy we execute; it is an outcome of doing good work consistently.
The Team Behind the Number
A milestone like this belongs to the people who made it happen. Our team has grown from four people in a shared office to a distributed operation with designers, developers, project managers, SEO specialists, and support engineers working across multiple time zones. The culture has remained remarkably consistent despite the growth: direct communication, ownership of outcomes, and an allergy to mediocrity.
We are particularly proud of the support and maintenance work that happens after launch. Building a website is the beginning of a relationship, not the end of one. Our support team handles thousands of requests per year, from content updates and security patches to performance optimization and feature additions. The fact that the vast majority of our clients stay with us for hosting and ongoing support after their initial project is complete tells us that the post-launch experience is as important as the build itself. What Comes Next
We are not slowing down. The next phase of GRADAX focuses on deepening the value we deliver to each client rather than simply increasing volume. That means investing in marketing services that drive traffic to the websites we build, expanding our hosting infrastructure to deliver faster load times in more regions, and building tools that help our clients measure the business impact of their digital presence in real time.
We are also expanding our service offerings to address the full lifecycle of a business's digital needs. From initial website design through SEO, content marketing, paid advertising, and ongoing optimization, we want every GRADAX client to have a single partner they can trust for their entire digital operation. The goal is not to be the biggest agency. It is to be the one that businesses keep choosing, project after project, year after year.
To every business that has trusted us with their website, their brand, or their growth: thank you. Ten thousand is a milestone, but the work that matters is the next project, the next launch, the next business we help succeed. If you are ready to start yours, get in touch.
